At 132, we’re still kickin’
Notice on our masthead on the front page of this week’s paper the words “Volume 132, No. 52”, which means that we are having a birthday this week. The origins of this newspaper began in 1884, so that puts us at 132 years old.
I’ve been a part of this newspaper for about 23 years, having served as part-time ‘stuffer’ in junior high and high school, as a column writer reporting the Copiah Academy news during my senior year and for the past nineteen-and-one-half years in nearly every capacity as a full-time newspaper employee/account manager/editor/publisher/web administrator/etc. From as far back as I remember, I’ve read a newspaper almost every day. I still do and don’t see that changing anytime. My day doesn’t flow well unless and until I have an actual newspaper in my hand.
My staff and I work hard and are proud to bring you the news about Copiah County each week. We hope you love it as much as we do. Here’s to another 132 years!
