Dr. Robert Hanvey

Dr. Robert W. Hanvey,  Pastor Emeritus of First Baptist Church Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

Dr. Hanvey’s family invites friends and neighbors to a visitation on Friday, April 15, from 4 to 7 P.M. and memorial services at 7 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery in Anniston, AL, Dr. Hanvey’s hometown, at 2 P.M. on April 16.  Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Dr. Hanvey will be most remembered for pouring himself into the community for the sake of Jesus Christ. He was also proud of having served his country in the US Army’s 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, GA as well as working on the Apollo/Saturn V space program with The Boeing Company before being called by God into the ministry.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Hanvey, his daughter and her husband Kathy and Don Gilliland, two grandsons Joshua and Jonathan Gilliland, his sister Vicky Mazur, and several nieces and nephews.
