HAZLEHURST—Rep. Greg Holloway will host the Fifth Annual Lawrence Pillers-Roy Lee Hilton-Lewis Tillman Youth Football and Cheerleader Camp on Thursday, June 30, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Hazlehurst High School in Hazlehurst.
The free camp is designed for children ages 6-18 who live in Copiah County. Participation is limited to 200. Applications may be picked up and returned to City Hall and the Copiah County Tax Collector’s office in Hazlehurst. The deadline for completed applications is Monday, June 27, 2016. No exceptions.
Pillers, of the San Francisco 49ers; Hilton, of the Baltimore Colts; and Tillman, of the New York Giants, are all former residents of Hazlehurst who played on Super Bowl winning teams. They developed the idea to sponsor the camp while they were being honored with a resolution at the Capitol during the 2011 Regular Legislative Session. Representative Holloway requested the resolutions.
Several former National Football League players from the state of Mississippi will volunteer at the camp with Pillers, Hilton and Tillman to teach the techniques and fundamentals of football.
