Go4th’ers survive

Several dozen racers and walkers from Copiah County and beyond tackled the Go4th 5K Walk/Run and the 1 Mile Fun Run on Monday morning in Hazlehurst. Hazlehurst Police and Fire provided protection from traffic and assistance with heat-related issues. Some participants, such as Jacques Hood with Jody Ogletree and Alfredo Estrada, were literally carried across the finish line at First Baptist Church after suffering from cramps or injury (above left). The bridge in downtown (left) provided the first big test of strength and endurance on the course. Several racers also said that the Caldwell Drive hill, from West Whitworth to Gallatin, was a ‘monster’ as well. (Photos by Crockett Action Shots)
