The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is offering the Bayou Pierre Bridge on Hwy. 18 near Carpenter for relocation due to its age and condition. The bridge was built ca. 1900 – 1920 and moved to Bayou Pierre in 1940, although it is not known from where it was moved. The Bayou Pierre Bridge is one of the best examples of the few surviving truss vehicular bridges in the state.
