New bridge going in

The Copiah County Board of Supervisors has contracted with S&S Dragline of Lincoln County to replace an aging bridge on Monticello Street at Miller Street intersection.  Traffic flow on both sides of the street has been rerouted around the back side of a structure at the intersection, and marked with cones and signs to make drivers aware of the detour.  The schools have been notified of the detour, and bus routes are expected to run on time. The work began Monday when a crew began tearing out the concrete base of the old structure and is expected to take up to to 30 days.  At left in the picture above is Daryl McMillian, District 1 supervisor, who stopped by to measure the crew’s progress on Monday.
