Services will be 1pm Tuesday at Pine Bluff Baptist Church with burial at Pine Bluff Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mrs. King grew up in Copiah County, the younger daughter of nine siblings. After marrying Donald, they made their home in Dentville right behind Donald’s family home. They worked and raised two loving children in their home. Even following Donald’s death, she continued to live in the home until she was no longer able to get about and care for herself, then moving down the road to her son Roy’s home. She was an active member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church until she could no longer physically attend.
She was employed at Bernstein & Son Shirt Factory for 33 years. She was always faithful and loving in her many roles as caretaker, daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and special aunt to so many nieces and nephews. She and Donald worked hard at gardening and keeping the family together with family reunions and get togethers in their home. She was one of the best cooks ever, always offering whatever was available that day and doing so thanking the Good Lord.
As she aged her eyesight became weak and her hearing slightly impaired but she always kept that same beautiful smile, greeting each and every person she met, with a kind hello. Her eyes twinkled, her smile was always true. She loved with all her heart and was truly loved by all those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pinkney and Yettie Tolbert Barker; husband, Donald Ellison King; daughter Patsy Darlene King Strong; and 7 sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her son, Roy Ellison King (Beth); son-in-law, Herbert Strong; grandsons, Darrell King (Melissa) and Elbert King; great grandsons, Will and EJ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and greats.
