Two arrested in burglaries
Hazlehurst Police Chief Byron Swilley said Monday that two suspects believed to be involved with recent separate business burglaries are in custody in Copiah County Detention Center.
Wanda Wiley, age 43, of Hazlehurst, was apprehended and charged with two counts of business burglary. Police say she broke in to Brummies Yummies on the night of July 23 and into Pat’s Fashions on the night of June 2. Undiclosed amounts of cash were taken.
In a separate crime, 17-year-old Rocha Williams is charged with burglarizing Canton Garden Chinese Restaurant on July 23.
“We are not exempt from crime in Hazlehurst, but we hold those accountable that we believe commit them,” Swilley said.
Wiley is being held under a $20,000 bond – $10,000 for each charge – and Rocha is under at $10,000 bond, Swilley explained.
“Thankfully, no one was hurt,” Swilley added.
