Leslie Welch, Jr.

Leslie Welch, Jr., 87, of Gulfport, formerly of Gallman,  passed away August 17, 2017 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be 5pm-7pm Wednesday, August 23 at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.  Services will be 11am Thursday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial at Gallman Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Mr. Welch was a native of Gallman.  He joined the Navy out of High School and received his degree from Ole Miss.  He retired from the Navy after 27 years of service.  Mr. Welch had lived in Biloxi since 2009.

Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his wife in 2004, Shirley Blakney Welch.

He is survived by his sons, Mark Welch of Lake Charles, LA; Warren Welch of Boerne, TX; daughters, Leslie Surratt of Lake Charles, LA and Lisa Ann Redwine of Water Valley, MS; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
