William Melvin Amos

William Melvin Amos, 90, of Hazlehurst, passed away August 26, 2017 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Visitation will be 12:30pm-2pm Tuesday at First Baptist Church Hazlehurst.  Services will be 2pm Tuesday at First Baptist Church with burial at Hazlehurst Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangement.

Mr. Amos was a WWII Navy veteran of European Theater, Invasion of France, Omaha Beach Head and was honorably discharged.  He was a service technician for Business Machine Company for 21 years.  After retirement, he went back to the farm to raise cattle.  Mr. Amos was a member of First Baptist Church Hazlehurst.

He is survived by his wife, Ester Ruth Turner Amos; daughters, Beverly Ann Bridges of Hazlehurst and Jeanette Davis of Brandon; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
