Robert Daniel Twiner
Robert Daniel Twiner of Hazlehurst, died August 31, 2017 at his home in the Allen Community of Hazlehurst, MS after a brief illness.
Funeral Mass will be 10am Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Saint Martin Catholic Church on the corner of Conway and Haley Streets, Hazlehurst with interment in Ferguson Cemetery off Ferguson Lane west of Hazlehurst. Fellowship will follow at New Providence Baptist Church on Highway 28 West.
The son of Robert Dewitt and Jonnie Rebecca Kimble Twiner was born on July 5, 1948. Dan lived all his life in Hazlehurst except for the time in Vietnam and the Bahama Islands with the Navy Seabees during the war. He retired from Persdorp Polyols, Inc. of Port Gibson, MS after over 20 years and continued farming beef cattle then transitioned to tree farming in 2003. He was active and involved in every aspect of Saint Martin/Saint John Catholic Churches and was dedicated to service with Wesson Friends of the Library. He enjoyed Senior Luncheon fellowship at Saint Francis Catholic Church of Brookhaven and his Wesson Class of 1966 Mini Reunions and was devoted to visitation of friends and family across Mississippi. Dan stressed “Every tub should sit on its own bottom!” and “Diversify!”
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin Dewitt Twiner, niece Kerry Denise Twiner and grand-nephew Brandon Edward Wallace. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Mildred Ann Russell Twiner; sons, Angel Louis and wife Paula of Louisiana and Bernard Calvin and wife Jessica of Hazlehurst; grandsons, Chet Michael and wife Jacquelynn of Anchorage, AK, James Clifton (JC) and Jonathan Taylor Twiner of Hazlehurst and Erin Angel Twiner of Louisiana; granddaughters, Jasmine Nicole Thornhill and husband Zachary of Hazlehurst and Autum Angeliene Twiner of Bogue Chitto, MS; great grandchildren, Kyler James Twiner, AvaClaire Mae Thornhill, and Maverick Andrew Twiner and a multitude of other family and friends.
