Charles William Martin

Charles William Martin passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 26 surrounded by his family. 
He was born, January 16, 1942 in Crystal Springs to Oliver and Rhoda Martin. Charles graduated from Crystal Springs High School in 1961.  He worked with Bell South in Jackson for many years and later transferred to AT&T in Nashville where he retired and shortly after relocated to Oakland.
 
He was a kind and loving husband and father. Charles was an avid gardener and spent countless hours tending his many fruit trees and vegetable garden. Always thinking of others before himself and charitable to the end, he donated his body to medical science to aid in the discovery of a cure for pulmonary fibrosis.
 
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faye Smith Martin, whom he married on April 6, 1962. He leaves behind two sons, Andy Martin and wife Tanya of Crystal Springs, Timothy Martin and wife Carla Enis of Baldwyn, a grandson, Ashton Martin of Baldwyn and a brother Gary Martin of LaPorte, Texas.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Pete Martin.
 
A celebration of his life will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home Chapel in Crystal Springs on Saturday, October 6 at 2 p.m.
 
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association, 1200 Hosford Street, Suite 101 Hudson, WI 54016 or St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
