Colonels end season with loss to Silliman
By Joe Coates The long 2019 football season came to an end for the Copiah Academy Colonels last Friday night after a 43-22 loss to the Silliman Wildcats. The Colonels dropped their last 6 games of the season and finished 2-8. Joseph Granger scored the first points for Copiah on a 38-yard field goal attempt in the first half. The Colonels added 3 touchdowns and 1 extra point the remainder of the contest: Blaine Sims 1-yard run; Torrid Cooper 35 yard pass from John David Weed; and, Walker Anderson 15 yard run with PAT by Tanner Hollingsworth. Weed threw for 120 yards on 7 completions and ran for 88 yards on 9 carries to lead the Colonel offense. Cooper caught 3 passes for 65 yards. Tucker Jackson was again the leading tackler with 12 stops. Wyatt Fullington was next with 9, followed by Ethan Bailey with 8. The Colonels totaled 279 yards of offense and surrendered 310 to the Wildcats.
