Chautauqua gardeners holiday lunch held at Magnolia Bed and Breakfast The Chautauqua Garden Club, Crystal Springs, met Dec. 4 at The Magnolia Bed and Breakfast. This beautiful and historical Crystal Springs landmark is the former Messer home. After prayer by Lana Goolsby, the hostesses Kathy Lee, Becky Dionne, Betty Cline, Sharron White, and Nan Harris served a delicious holiday lunch to 20 members and two guests, Sue Warren and Waudean Harris. After Nan Harris read “The Legend of the Candy Cane”, Betty Cline gave a brief history of The Magnolia Bed and Breakfast which is now the home of Yvonne Florczak-Seeman. It was built in the mid 1800’s and owned by several families and many remember it as the “Messer Home”. The current owner desires for the home to be a venue for various events. Members were given the opportunity to contribute to the Angel Tree, sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of Crystal Springs. The Chautauqua Garden Club, in addition, gives an annual donation. The January 8 garden club meeting will be held at the Touch of Glass mosaic studio. The theme will be Garden Therapy.
