Ricky Matthew Lack, 64, died Jan. 30, 2020 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. A lifelong resident of Crystal Springs, Mr. Lack was born May 26, 1955 to Henry and Melvaline Lack in Crystal Springs. He retired from Crystal Springs Police Department after over 30 years as a police officer and a firearm instructor. He also served with the Copiah County Sheriff’s Department and at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Mr. Lack was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lack, and his sister, Charlotte Whittington. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Feb. 1 at Springs of Praise Pentecostal Church in Crystal Springs. Burial was in Old Crystal Springs Cemetery, Crystal Springs. Visitation was Jan. 31 from 4 until 7 p.m. and Feb. 1 from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service at Springs of Praise Pentecostal Church. Chancellor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivors are son, Cody Lack of Crystal Springs; daughters, Amanda (Charlie) Freemyer and Mary Thornton of Hazlehurst; mother and stepfather, Melvaline (Glenn) Simmons of Crystal Springs; brother, Ronnie Lack of Crystal Springs; sisters, Cathy Lack of Hattiesburg, Alyne (Joe) Hawkins of Crystal Springs and Earlene Barnett of Jackson, and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Mylee Fay and Myles.
