By Anna Coates
Board President Paul Rhodes, Rev. Kenneth Thrasher, Dr. Dan Jones, Board Attorney Carroll Rhodes, and Superintendent Dr. Cloyd Garth Jr. met via Zoom app in regular session May 7. Absent were members Kevin Brown and Alberta Nelson.
Dr. Garth recommended and board members agreed to set the following procedures for promotion and graduation, since much of the 4th nine-weeks session was curtailed:
Student completes and submits all at-home learning activities to earn a grade of 100 for the fourth term, averaging with first three terms for yearly grade.
Student does not complete and submit home learning activities — terms 1-3 are averaged for yearly grade.
Grades 1-8: No testing for 3rd grade promotion to 4th grade. Passing grades are required only in English, Language Arts, and Mathematics.
Grades 9-12: Student must attain a final grade of 60 in each course credit for promotion – no state testing.
Graduating Seniors 2020: No state test required; other district requirements apply. Coursework must align to Pathways curriculum.
