Copiah supervisors cancel admin leave pay

The Copiah County Board of Supervisors met Friday morning to reconsider a previous action allowing administrative leave with pay during the COVID-19 pandemic. The board voted unanimously to approve the change.
The pay policy was part of an emergency declaration that was approved so employees could be paid when they were not working. The plan was to run the courthouse and other county offices on a skeleton crew in order to minimize exposure to the virus. The decisions on who was to work and when was left up to department heads.
District Three Supervisor Perry Hood said he felt like the board had been taken advantage of when they were trying to help out.
