Carroll Johns

John C. (Carroll) Johns, 91, of Hazlehurst, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020. A private service was held June 24 at Gallman Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst handled arrangements.
Mr. Johns was a lifelong resident of Copiah County. As a faithful member of Gallman Baptist Church, he served as chair of deacons, on numerous committees, and taught the men’s Sunday school class. He served in the National Guard of the United States and the State of Mississippi as sergeant of the HVY Tank Co, 155th Infantry Regiment, 1947-1950. He retired from Kuhlman Electric with 27 years of service. He and his wife, Dot, owned Carroll’s Cash & Carry and later, after its closing, they enjoyed a number of years working with J.C. and Janie (sister) Geiselbreth at Occoneechee Peach Farm in Terry. Beyond our Lord, he loved spending time with his precious wife, children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Being with them brought him his greatest pleasures in life.
Mr. Johns was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy Runnells Johns; daughter, Ann Johns Harper, of Brandon; parents, Levi and Ruby Vaughn Johns; sisters, Janie Geiselbreth and Mae Lois Wright; and brothers, Charles Merritt Johns and Robin G. Johns.
He is survived by his sons, John C. Johns Jr., Randall G. Johns, David Warren Johns, and James A. Johns, all of Gallman; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gallman Baptist Church.
