The Copiah Academy football team came up short in their week two tilt with Madison-Ridgeland Academy by a score of 45-7.

The high-powered Patriot offense caused problems for the Colonel defense early, putting the home team at an early disadvantage. This, coupled with a few missed opportunities early for the Copiah offense, spelled trouble throughout the first half for the home team. The Patriots racked up 343 yards of total offense while the Colonels were only able to accumulate 144 yards.

The lone scoring drive of the night came at the seven minute mark of the third quarter when Ben Adams connected with Torriq Cooper for an 80-yard touchdown score, on which Cooper was able to show off his speed and athleticism on his march to the end zone. The Colonels were able to pick up 62 yards on the ground, led by Will Thornton, who rushed for 49 yards on six touches. While it was a long night on the scoreboard for the Colonels, a competitive fight in the second half showed promise moving forward for the Colonels.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Mendenhall. The game will be broadcast live on with Bryce Chapman on the call for the Colonels.
