Christmas activities set in Copiah County

The Christmas season is here and Copiah County’s communities are working to help everyone get into the
spirit of Christmas. Parades and other special events are coming up and there is plenty to do for everyone.

Wednesday, December 1

Crystal Springs Christmas tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. today at Railroad Park.

Thursday, December 2

The Crystal Springs Christmas parade is set for 6 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend the event.

Friday, December 3

The Wesson parade is set for 4 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend the event.

Georgetown will hold their “Light up the Lane on Main from 5-8 p.m. Everyone is invited to come celebrate and decorate the lane together. Veterans, police officers, and firemen will receive a special appreciation gift bag from Socks for Heroes.

Crystal Springs stores will be open from 5-8 p.m. with merchants offering refreshments in their stores. Pop Up shops will be featured in the Packing Shed and on Front Street. There will also be carriage rides around town and a letter to Santa drop off at the Wisteria Inn. After dropping off their letters, children can make a bag of reindeer food at Sweet Sixteen and Santa will be at Wright’s Florist for photos with kids of all ages. Parents will be able to have their children fingerprinted at the Crystal Springs Police Station. Those prints can help identify a child in case of an abduction. There will also be entertainment on Front Street and Back Street, as well as S’mores, a movie, and a live nativity at Railroad Park. Monday, December 6

Hazlehurst merchants are holding a special “Christmas in the City” event from 5-7 p.m. Local businesses will be open special hours and there will be food and drinks and Christmas carolers. The event is sponsored by the Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday, December 11

Georgetown’s Annual Christmas Parade is at 2 p.m. Line up will begin at 1 p.m. on Main Street near Mercy House and will be directed by Edna Stevens. Call Georgetown City Hall at 601-858-2463 with parade entries or questions. Anyone is welcome to be a part of the Parade, there is no entry fee, and the theme this year is “Hometown Christmas.” Immediately following the Parade, the 12th annual “Georgetown Christmas Giveaway” will begin. Candy Bags for every child, ages 3-12, will be handed out with a ticket attached for a chance to win Bicycles, gift cards and much more. Adults can pick up a ticket as well, for a chance to win a Cajun Fish Cooker.

Sunday, December 12

Hazlehurst will hold its annual Christmas Parade at 3 p.m. The deadline to register an entry in the parade is Friday, December 3. Registration can be done at the Chamber of Commerce Office.
