Inaugural Rockin’ Railroad Festival 5K a success
The inaugural Rockin’ Railroad Festival 5K was a huge success, according to Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Purser, and had a lot of local participants in the winner’s circle.
Winners of the overall 5K walk were Ronald Roma, Rod Simmons, and Charles Atkins in the male division; and Terrie Foster, Bethany Allen, and Mona Kay Allen in the female division.
In the male division of the 5K walk, Riteshkumar Dilipbhai Mistry and Darshit Bhavsar won the 30-39 category; Venkateswararao Sadhuy and Carlos Garcia won the 40-49 grouping; Lance Purser, John Allen, and Terry Rogers topped the 50-59 age group; Jimmy Taylor, Lamar Puryear, and Billy Price won the 60-69 group; and Bob Owens and Willie Price took the 70 and over category.
Female runners had participants in the 14 and under category with Kennedy Garcia and Katie Garcia, ages 7 and 11, winning their grouping; Janelle Swilley won the 15-19 age group; Abby Garcia won the 30-39 age group; Melanie Geiselbreth, Erin Cogswell, and Lori Whittington won the 40-49 group; Cynthia Griffin, Debra Kinser, and Lisa May won the 60-69 category; and Dorothy Lofton won the 70 and over category.
In the running category, overall winners in the male division were Kenneth Smitherman, D’Quan Belton, and Clay Cook. In the female division, Alleigh Gallman, Miriam Allred, and Katie Shannon won the first three spots.
Lequan Belton won the male 30-39 age group, and Mike A. Casadaban and Roger Berry won the 60-69 age group. Anne Marie Obilade, Christal East, and Vanessa Addison won the 50-59 female category; and Ann Thrasher and Denise Owens won the 60-69 category.
