Russell Shane Dear

Russell Shane Dear, 55, passed away at his residence on June 30, 2026.

Russell was a skilled welder who took great pride in his work. Affectionately known by his coworkers as “Tazz,” he had a talent for welding and could build or repair just about anything.

A member of New Zion Baptist Church, Russell enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved hunting and fishing, spending time with his family, and gathering around the table to share a good meal with those he loved most. He was also a lifelong fan of Jurassic Park and the Tasmanian Devil, whose energetic personality inspired his work nickname, “Tazz.”

He is survived by his son, Steven Dear (Karson); his daughter, Ashley Hahn (Mark); his mother, Sylvia Dear; his brothers, Raymond Dear (Melodye) and Robin Dear (Rebecca); and his cherished grandchild, Emerson Dear.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Glenn Dear.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, July 3, at New Zion Baptist Church, with the funeral service beginning at 11. Interment will follow at New Zion Cemetery.
