Highway dedication set for Sept. 25

A ceremony to rename a section of Highway 28 in memory of a long-time Copiah County business leader is set for 10 a.m., Sept. 25.
Mississippi Transportation Commission Chairman Willie Simmons, Rep. Gregory Holloway Sr., Sen. Albert Butler, and Copiah County Board of Supervisors President Judson Jackson invite the community to a ceremony dedicating a segment of Mississippi Highway 28 in Copiah County in memory of Carroll V. Hood.
Per House Bill 1463 in the 2024 Session, the segment of Mississippi Highway 28 located in Copiah County, beginning at the Copiah County Medical Center near the intersection of Highway 28 and VFW Road, and running westerly for a distance of approximately one mile is designated and shall be known as the “Carroll V. Hood Memorial Highway.”
The ceremony will take place outside of the Copiah County Medical Center located at 27190 Highway 28 in Hazlehurst.
