Cathy Foster Parker
A celebration of life will be held for Cathy Foster Parker at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
Cathy Foster Parker, 67, of Crystal Springs, passed away on Aug. 6 at her residence. She was born in Brookhaven on May 9, 1958, to Houston Foster and Annie Ruth Callender Foster.
Cathy was a graduate of Loyd Star High School c/o ’76 and Copiah-Lincoln Community College c/o ’78. She played basketball for both schools and was awarded Most Valuable Player for Lincoln County in 1976. She served as a Sunday School teacher as well as a training union teacher at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She served as head of Baptist Young Women before moving to Crystal Springs in 1992. She joined Harmony Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for fourth grade and for 5-year-olds. She later moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs, where she served as a training union nursery worker and fill in teacher until her cancer was diagnosed. She also served on multiple committees. She worked at Kuhlman/ABB/Hitachi Entergy plant in Crystal Springs for 39 years and eight months.
Through her years, she had so many different things that she loved to do: cross stitch, crocheting, gardening, puzzling, and most of all, singing. She was a member of multiple choirs and singing groups. Most importantly, her greatest accomplishment was her girls, Shae and Hollie. She poured every ounce of her into “her girls.” She was so proud of raising two girls that loved the Lord and their families just as she had done for them. Her marriage to her best friend was also something that you could write books about. Her and William’s love was epic. They were together for 50 years. Together, they raised their girls, had careers that allowed them to work together, built a beautiful home, and had six amazing grandchildren. She loved her “furbabies,” Kipp and Odie, too.
Preceding her in death was her father, Houston Foster.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, William Parker; children, Shae Coleman (Travis) and Hollie Peets (Christopher); six grandchildren, Brayden, Bryce, Brooke, Anne Houston, Kori, and Cam; mother, Annie Ruth Foster; brother, Ronnie Foster (Lynette); and sister, Karen Chaffin (Stuart).
She will be missed by so many family members and friends. To begin to name them all would take pages, but if you knew her and she loved you, know that your name goes here.
The legacy that she left here on Earth will never be forgotten. She will be remembered by all that knew her as a Christian, wife, mother, mawmaw, and a fighter. Her battle with cancer over the past four years was tough. She fought it with dignity and grace, but she is healed today in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; and we can’t wait to see her again.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.
