The Hazlehurst Christmas parade committee is happy to announce that Dorothy Moore will be the grand marshal for the 2007 Christmas parade.
Also, photos will be taken with Mr. and Mrs. Santa at the Depot. There will be a small fee for the photos in which you will have several sizes to choose from. The photos will be printed on site, so you will receive them that day.
Don’t forget to check out our local choirs who will be performing again at the Pavilion. The singing will start at 4:30 p.m. Several choirs have committed.
The parade line-up will start at 4:30 p.m. at Hazlehurst High School. The official time for the parade will be at 6 p.m. The route will start at the school and end at Huntington Lumber Company on West Whitworth Street. Please make arrangements to pick up the parade participants at the end of the parade.
The Jackson Police Department Motorcycles again to lead the parade and this year we are asking them to perform. To end the parade we will have our local horseback riders.
Organizers hope for a lot of new entries this year. Float entries will be judged and prizes awarded to the best three overall floats. With that in mind please make sure that your float has your name visible so that the judges can identify who you are. You must have a sign or something stating who you are or who you are representing. Another concern of the committee is that the music you play must be appropriate for the season. Remember this year’s theme is “A Small Town Christmas.”
Entry forms may be picked up at the Depot and local businesses throughout town. For more information please contact Randle Day at the Hazlehurst Chamber office at 601-894-3752. The deadline for entering the parade is November 15. Please be mindful of that date.
