Cobra soccer teams getting mixed results

The Wesson Cobras lost 3-1 in Friday night’s district game against the Crystal Springs Tigers.  Chris Fink scored the only goal for the Cobras.  Brandon Burch received credit for the assist and was later injured during play action.  Scoring for the Tigers, who held the home field advantage, were Kenenth Llamas with two and Demarcus Sanders with a single.  The Cobras record now stands at 2-7, 1-3.
The Lady Cobras posted their first district win against the Lady Tigers with a score of 3-1.   Raiven Coleman scored within the first five minutes of the game off an assist from Trystan Eschete.  Marlee Hahn scored for the Lady Tigers and had another opportunity to score with an in the box penalty kick.  Her shot, however, was blocked by Wesson’s Amber Joyce.  Eschete also scored for the Lady Cobras during the first half with an assist from Stephanie Berry.  Wesson’s Coleman scored the final goal of the evening during the second half of the game.  The win improved the Lady Cobra’s  to 8-4, 1-1.  
Wesson vs. North Pike  
Wesson narrowly lost Saturday to the North Pike Jaguars 5-3, after holding a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Seventh grader Brandon Nettles notched Wesson’s first goal. Chris Fink added another on an assist from Blake Whittington.
North Pike tied it at 2 each just before halftime.  
The Cobras once again gained the lead when Fink scored off another assist from Whittington.  However, the Cobras could not hold off the Jaguars who scored three more times before the game ended.  The loss brings the Cobra’s record to 2-8, 1-3.  
In the girl’s game, injuries to several veteran Lady Cobras took their toll, as the visitors dropped a 5-1 decision to the Lady Jags.
Jordan Nettles punched the ball in from just outside the box in the secon half for Wesson’s only score.
The Lady Cobras fell to 8-5, 1-1.
In junior varsity action, the Lady Jaguars beat the Lady Cobras 4-1, with Vanesha Harris scoring the visitors’ only goal.
