Hazlehurst basketball teams split
The Hazlehurst Indians split two conference games last week, dropping a 71-59 decision to Raymond on Tuesday, then knocking off Collins 61-55 Friday night.
Raymond held a narrow 29-26 lead at halftime before pulling away in the third quarter and easing ahead in the fourth period to down the Indians.
Hazlehurst was led by Fred Fuller with 21 points, Antonio Harris with 20 and Demarrio Bell with 8.
Against Collins, the Indians raced to a 38-19 halftime lead, then held off a furious comeback by their opponents, winning 61-55.
Harris hit for 21, Fuller added 17 and Eric Walker managed 10 points, respectively.
The Indians are now 14-8 overall with a 8-3 conference mark.
The Lady Indians dropped a 61-34 decision to Raymond on Tuesday night. Leading 30-23 at halftime, Raymond pulled away in the third and fourth quarters to seal the win.
Lateisha Pendleton paced the Lady Indians with 12, followed by Jasmine Jones with 8. Three others added four points each.
The Lady Indians, according statistics taken from www.clarionledger.com, are now 9-9, with a 4-3 district mark.
