Hidalgo Downtown Park sign placed

HIDALGO PARK SIGN PLACED – Following the ceremony at the spike memorial, city officials unveiled the sign officially proclaiming the park by the railroad tracks as Byron Hidalgo Downtown Park. The Hazlehurst Board of Aldermen agreed in 2005 to name the park for Hidalgo, one of the city’s leading citizens who was instrumental in the downtown development efforts. Pictured are his widow Kathy Hidalgo and her father Mal Jones.
