Copiah boys drop three

    Brookhaven Academy outscored Copiah Academy 30-7 in the first quarter and went on to pound the Colonels 75-41 in Gallman last week.
    The Cougars also outscored Copiah in the second period and led 52-14 at halftime. From that point, the only issue in doubt was the point spread.
    Caleb Stewart was CA’s leading scorer with 19 points. Other Copiah scorers included Reece Hankins with 9 points, Russell Hood with 6 points, Dennis Harper with 5 points, and Adam Ganucheau and Drew Granger with one point apiece.

East Rankin 74, Copiah 28
    The East Rankin Patriots jumped out to a 26-8 first quarter lead and went on to whip the Copiah Academy Colonels 74-28 in Pelahatchie last week.
    CA trailed 52-20 at halftime and managed to score only 6 points in the second half.
    Reece Hankins led the Colonels with 8 points. Dennis Harper and Caleb Stewart were close behind with 6 points each, while Brandon Smith, Russell Hood, and Drew Granger all had 2 points apiece.

Canton 43, Copiah 29
    The Copiah Academy Colonels rallied in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as the Canton Academy Panthers hung on for a 43-29 win in Gallman last Saturday.
    After trailing at halftime 25-6, the Copiah Academy Colonels outscored Canton Academy 15-6 in the third period to pull within ten, 31-21. But the Panthers regained control and were never threatened again.
    The difference was the pivotal second quarter in which Canton outscored Copiah 18-2.
    Dennis Harper led the Colonels with 11 points. Other CA totals included Caleb Stewart with 6 points, Brandon Smith and Adam Ganucheau with 4 points each, and Russell Hood and Reece Hankins with 2 points apiece.
    The Panthers were led by Mike Jerome and Eddie Drane with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
