Lady Colonels continue winning ways against Canton

    The Copiah Academy Lady Colonels outscored Amite School Center in every quarter and blasted the Lady Rebels 64-33 in the Brookhaven Academy Invitational during the Christmas holidays.
    CA led 20-9 after one quarter, 37-20 at the half, and 49-26 heading into the final stanza.
    Amanda Pyron led the winners with 16 points after missing most of the early part of the season due to injury. Sophomore Courney Beach was close behind with 15 points. Other Copiah scorers included Madelon Cline and Lori Baham with 8 points each, Ashley Baham with 6 points, Camryn Mitchell with 5 points, Brooke Wilson with 4 points, and Heather Teasley with 2 points.
    Melanie Reed scored 7 points to lead Amite.

Parklane 56, Copiah 52
    The Copiah Academy Lady Colonels led most of the way before falling to the Parklane Academy Lady Pioneers 56-52 in the final seconds at the Brookhaven Invitational Tournament.
    Three Lady Colonels were in double figures, led by Amanda Pyron with 21 points. Madelon Cline and Ashley Baham each had 11 points and a trio of 3-pointers. Other Copiah scorers included Lori Baham and Courtney Beach with 7 and 2 points, respectively.

East Rankin 51, Copiah 27
    The East Rankin Academy Lady Patriots outscored Copiah Academy 19-4 in the second period enroute to a 51-27 victory over the Lady Colonels in Pelahatchie last week.
    CA trailed 15-10 after one period, and fell behind by twenty, 34-14, at the half. East Rankin continued the onslaught, outscoring Copiah 15-6 in the third period, before the Lady Colonels edged the Lady Patriots 7-2 in the final eight minutes.
    Rachel Strait led CA with 6 points. Madelon Cline, Amanda Pyron, Camryn Mitchell, and Brooke Wilson all had 3 points apiece, while Ashley Baham, Lori Baham, and Courtney Beach contributed 2 points each.

Copiah 45, Prentiss Christian 23
    The Copiah Academy Lady Colonels jumped out to a 16-2 first-quarter lead and went on to pummel the Prentiss Christian Lady Saints 45-23 last week in Prentiss.
    CA’s Lori Baham scored 24 points including four 3-pointers — more than the entire Prentiss Christian team — to lead the way. Other Copiah totals included Courtney Beach with 5 points, Madelon Cline and Amanda Pyron with 4 points apiece, Ashley Baham and Rachel Strait with 3 points each, and Heather Teasley with 2 points.

Copiah 59, Canton 38
    After being tied 15-15 in the first quarter, Copiah Academy gradually pulled away to record a 59-38 lopsided win over the Canton Academy Lady Panthers last Saturday in Gallman.
    Madelon Cline hit one of her five 3-pointers in the final seconds of the first half to give CA a 31-22 lead at intermission.  Cline hit three more treys in the third quarter as the Lady Colonels increased their margin to 47-32.
    Cline led the winners with 16 points. Lori Baham and Ashley Baham were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Other Copiah totals included Rachel Strait with 7 points, Amanda Pyron with 5 points, Courtney Beach and Nikki Hobkirk with 3 points each, and Camryn Mitchell and Brooke Wilson with 2 points apiece.  
    Katie Pepper led Canton with 16 points.
