Missing men found in submerged vehicle

The bodies of three men missing since Friday, January 16, were found Tuesday morning, January 20.

Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones reported the bodies of Timothy Young, 23;  Justin Middlebrook, 22; and Isaiah Tucker, 20, were found off Mississippi Highway 27, about two miles south of Rockport.

The three men were reported missing when they failed to return home after attending a basketball game at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson. Middlebrook and Tucker were students at Co-Lin. All three young men were from Lawrence County.

Relatives of one of the men had been driving around Tuesday morning when they noticed a damaged guard rail and a tire visible in the water. The rest of the car was submerged. The highway was shut down while the car was retrieved from the creek, and a large crowd had gathered, including some relatives of the young men.

Autopsies determined the cause of death as accidental drowning, according to Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart.
