Chad O’Quinn, chief of the Wesson Police Department, reported to the Wesson Board of Aldermen at their regular monthly meeting last Tuesday that one of his officers had an interesting traffic stop on the prior Monday evening.
Assistant chief Chad Sills was ‘running radar’ on Sylvarena Road inside the city limits around 11:00 p.m. when he clocked a vehicle traveling at 74 miles per hour, O’Quinn said. The subsequent traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the individual after Sills discovered one-and-a-half pounds of marijuana in the vehicle. Some cash amounting to over $2,100 was also seized.
“This was a good bust and a significant arrest,” O’Quinn said. He added that he had no doubt that the drugs would have been distributed in the Wesson had the suspect been able to deliver his illegal package.
“Assistant chief Sills is to be commended for his actions,” O’Quinn said.
