Colonels even south state series with 2-0 win
Copiah junior pitcher Ben Boone went the distance against Central Private on Thursday night, allowing only one hit in the Colonels’ 2-0 victory over the Rebels in the South AA baseball championship series at Gallman.
The only two runs of the game came in the bottom half of the first inning when junior CF Bryce Guess doubled in Boone and Scotty Reese.
The Rebels’ Taylor Ort almost matched Boone pitch-for-pitch, allowing only two hits and the two runs in the loss.
The two teams square off again today at Central Private at 6 p.m. The winner of tonight’s game will have won the series and will advance to the state AA championship series against Lee Academy next week.
