Copiah Academy places 3 on MPSA all-state baseball team
Colonel senior Scotty Reese and juniors Hunter Renfroe and Bryce Guess were named to the MPSA All-State baseball squad this week. Reese and Renfroe earned first-team honors, while Guess led a solid class of second-teamers.
Reese, 11-3, 2.88 ERA, recorded 124 strikeouts in 80.1 innings of work. His 8 complete games led the Colonels on the mound. Opponents batted .217 against him. Reese also batted .461, with 49 runs scored, while collecting 10 doubles, 4 triples and 7 homeruns. His total of 54 RBI’s was second on the team.
Renfroe, the Colonels’ catcher, batted .425 and scored 48 runs. He collected 9 doubles and two triples. He led the team with 14 home runs and 57 RBI’s. Renfroe was a force on defense, too.
Guess, the captain of the outfield in centerfield, led Copiah with a . 476 batting average. He scored 33 runs, while stroking for 12 doubles and 8 homers. He also stole 5 bases.
