Public Safety Day is this Saturday

Area residents, including parents and children are invited to enjoy Public Safety Day this Saturday morning in Hazlehurst.  Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and other comfort items and come ready to have fun with the Hazlehurst Police and Fire Departments.

Beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting until noon, the event is scheduled to be held a the Hazlehurst  High School parking lot.  Plenty of parking spaces are available.  The area will be secured and patrolled by law enforcement.

The event promises good food and good fun for everyone.  Members of the departments will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers with all trimmings, as well as serving snow balls.  Children will enjoy the big slides and fun jumps.

Sponsored by the police and fire departments, the goal of the event is to build relationships with the community.  “We also want the children to have a day of fun and excitement before school starts,” said Assistant Police Chief Darian Murray.

McDonald’s, Alderman Daryl McMillian, and Sno-Biz have also contributed with sponsorships.
