Fifth suspect in Co-Lin assault now in custody

WESSON – A fifth suspect has turned himself in to the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the allegations of the sexual assault of a female student on Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Wesson Campus. Jason West of Hazlehurst turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday in connection with the Oct. 6 incident. He is being charged with rape.

“Based on the information we have now, we don’t anticipate any further arrests in this case,” said Natalie Davis, Director of Public Information. “Our campus police department has done an outstanding job with this investigation and will be turning the case over to the Copiah County District Attorney’s Office.”
