Major Christian Patterson to speak at Veterans Day service at courthouse

Major Christian Patterson will be the guest speaker for the annual Veterans Day service sponsored by the Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce.

The service will be held on Wednesday, November 11, at 11 a.m. in the circuit courtroom in the Copiah County Courthouse.

Major Patterson is the deputy director of public affairs for the Mississippi Military Department.  He is commander of the 102d Mobile Public Affairs Detachment. He served in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom from March 2008 to February 2009, in Kosovo from 2004 to 2006, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2000.

Patterson earned his bachelor of arts from Louisiana State University majoring in mass communication and public relations. He earned a master of business administration from Belhaven College. He has received several meritorious service medals and media awards. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Rho Xi Lambda Chapter of Canton, and the Public Affairs Association of Mississippi.
