Cobras win 3, Lady Cobras 4 in long week

Wesson basketball teams won a total of 7 games last week, including a clean sweep by the Lady Cobras.

Against division foe Puckett last Tuesday, the Lady Cobras raced to a big early lead, then cruised to a 53-26 win.  Ann Shelby Davis led Wesson with 17, and Macie Case added 11.

In the boys’ game, Wesson was led by Tyler Lumley’s 22 points in the 64-58 win.  Hunter Hood added 17.

On Friday, ten Lady Cobras scored points in a 69-46 throttling of Madison St. Joe for another district win.  This time Case led with 19, followed by Davis’ 15.

In the night cap, the Cobras battled to a 73-67 win.  Lumley again led the Cobras, scoring 24.  Zach Fetcko collected 14, and Kyle Cross added 13.

A trip to near Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday saw the teams split with MAIS member Central Private.  The Lady Cobras destroyed the Lady Rebels 52-16.

Davis scored 14 to lead the Lady Cobras.  Shantay Walker chipped in 10.

The Cobras were not as fortunate, however, in a tough 55-51 loss.  Tied at 28 at the end of the first half, the two teams battled back and forth in the second, with the Rebels hitting several free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Lumley again led the Cobras with 13.  Cross added 12.

The Lady Cobras stand at 19-4.   The Cobras are now 9-12.  The teams will travel to Hinds AHS on Friday, and then will host Loyd Star on Saturday.
