5-10 Colonels advance

Copiah won the first game in Greenville on Tuesday, 1-0. The Generals rallied in game 2 on Friday to even the series at 1 apiece. Then, the Colonels piled on the hits, home runs and runs to take game 3 on Friday evening.
Copiah will face the other semi-final winner this week in a best-of-three series. CA will host Magnolia Heights on Tuesday at 5:30, then will travel to the school in Senatobia on Thursday for game 2 at 5:00 and, if necessary, a third game to begin 30 minutes after game 2.
WASHINGTON 10, COPIAH 8
GAME 2
The Colonels seemed to have this one in hand going into the final inning leading 8-4. A comedy of Copiah errors and timely hitting rallied the Generals past the home team.
Copiah wasted a 4-for-5, two homerun, 4 RBI effort by junior second baseman Mitch Little in the loss. Russ Singleton also homered. Bryce Guess was 2-for-3.
Copiah used 4 pitchers in the contest. Senior righty Ben Boone absorbed the loss, pitching the final inning-plus.
COPIAH 15, WASHINGTON 9
GAME 3
The rubber match of the series quickly became another slugfest for Copiah. The Colonels totaled 5 home runs.
Singleton’s 2 home runs, including a grand slam, and 5 RBI’s led the Colonels. Little homered again, finishing 2-for-3 with 3 RBI’s. Colton Brown was 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI. Guess was also 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and 3 RBI.
Dustin McCrory started for Copiah and pitched over 3 innings. He scattered 10 hits and gave up 8 runs, leaving with a lead in the middle of the third inning. Boone finished the final 3+ innings, allowing only 3 its and 1 run. The two combined for a total of 7 strikeouts.
