Republican runoff set for June 22

Republicans are set for a primary runoff for the Second Congressional District of the U.S. House of Representatives on June 22 to determine who will challenge Democratic incumbent Bennie Thompson in the November general election.

Meridian businessman Bill Marcy and Jackson Public Schools teacher Richard Cook appear headed for the runoff in district wide totals.

Statewide reports indicate that voter turnout was extremely light, likely affecting the outcome of the primary.
