WESSON 9 MAGEE 6

The Wesson 12 year-old all stars keep scratching and clawing and winning games in the South State tournament in Magee.

On Tuesday evening, the team suffered an early deficit and then put together a string of good defense and offense to defeat Magee 9-6.

Justin Boone’s 3 run homer put Wesson in the lead.  Good plays in the field by McLeod, leftfielder Jonah Henderson and others helped the team post the victory.

Now 3-1 in the tournament, Wesson takes the field tonight at 8 p.m. against the winner of Natchez and Lawrence County.  A win secures the South State championship and advances Wesson to the state tournament in Hattiesburg next week.  A loss sends Wesson into a consolation game on Thursday to battle for the third slot in the state tournament.
