Woman charged with murder in throat slashing

One woman is dead and another is in jail after an altercation at a yard party in Crystal Springs turned violent this Saturday.
According to Sheriff Harold Jones, “Currin L. Hardy, a 45 year-old black woman, was at a yard party at 1018 Byrd Lane when she was alledgedly attacked by Tonya Taylor, 41, of 1059 Lomax Lane.”
“We don’t know yet whether it was one or two blows, but we do know from our preliminary investigation and eye-witnesses that Taylor struck Hardy on the neck with a piece of glass. The blow hit the carotid artery or the jugular vein and Hardy bled out before paramedics and law enforcement arrived,” stated Sheriff Jones.
“Taylor left the scene before law enforcement arrived; and, was not at her home when the officers went to pick her up. She turned herself in at the detention center,” explained Sheriff Jones.Taylor is being held at the Copiah County Detention Center.
