Hazlehurst throttles Wingfield 26-12

The Hazlehurst Indians, still smarting from the emotional loss to Brookhaven, escaped danger in pulling off a 21-12 victory over the Wingfield Falcons at home.
    Defensive back John Bridges busted open the game with only two minutes left and Hazlehurst up 14-12 with a 55 yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Indians breathing room at 21-12.
    “It was one of those games where we didn’t have a lot of emotion,” stated head coach Randel Montgomery.  “We didn’t have a real good week of practice after the Brookhaven game and it showed on the field.”
    The first two Indian scores were on 3 and 30 yard TD runs by speedy running back Demetrius Cain.  Cain finished the evening with 128 yards on 14 carries and 2 TD’s.  Quarterback Kenneth Coleman was 8 of 13 passing for 97 yards.
    One highlight to point out was the play of kicker Dycelious Reese who nailed all three extra points.
    The Indians travel to Magnolia Friday night to take on the South Pike Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
