Rockin’ Railroad Festival will feature local artists

The 3rd annual Rockin’ Rail Festival, to be held in downtown Hazlehurst, October 1, is an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work, and all are encouraged to exhibit at the depot during the festival. All art types are welcome for display: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, collage, or other true artistic media. This is not an art sale, as such, but artists who want to sell their work may leave information for interested buyers to get in touch.
Students (preschool through high school) will participate in the popular “People’s Choice Awards,” in which the public has the opportunity to vote on their favorites. Adult art will be judged by peers who work in some aspect of the artistic field. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in all categories.
The theme of each entry should be “Rockin’ Railroad” and/or “Railroad Blues.” For additional information and registration forms, go to www.hazlechamber.com and click on “Festival 2011” and then on “Exhibit.”
The Rockin’ Railroad Festival is sponsored by the Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce, with the Arts and Books Committee in charge of the Art Exhibit.  For more information, contact the Chamber at 601-894-3752 or visit www.hazlechamber.com.
