Cobras off to 1-2 start

The Wesson Cobras (1-2) youth movement got underway with two losses in the first three games of the season. The Cobras were thrashed by West Lincoln, whipped Raleigh, and was beat in the last minute by Franklin County.
“West Lincoln just whipped us,” stated Cobra head coach Rusty Newman. “I was proud of the way we responded and played against Raleigh and we just have to finish against Franklin County.”
Franklin County 42, Wesson 40
Sophomore Austin Crow got a look at the game winning three pointer but it was off the mark in a game that saw the Cobras squander a 7 point fourth quarter lead against the Bulldogs.
Junior Patrick Lumley had 10 points and 4 rebounds to lead the Cobras. Juniors Eddie McCullom had 9 points while junior Terry Brown tossed in 8.
Wesson 58, Raleigh 42
Junior J.J. Sutton had a double-double night with 18 points and 12 rebounds on the road in Smith County to lead the Cobras to victory. He was supported in the road win with 10 points from Lumley and 9 from McCullom.
West Lincoln 78, Wesson 49
Wesson native Lane Young’s team dismantled the Cobras in Lincoln County on a night that saw no Cobras reach double digits.
The Cobras were taken out of their offense early and was led by junior James Clay’s 9 point effort. Junior guard Kaleb Skinner added 8 points and freshman Farrod Green nabbed 7 points in the loss.
