Lady Cobras pick up two wins

The Wesson Lady Cobras (2-1) have seen some early season success with wins over Dexter and Lincoln County rival West Lincoln to start the 2011-2012 campaign off on the right foot.

“I am proud of the girl’s effort so far,” commented Wesson head coach Rusti Magee.  “We have to keep getting better and cut down on turnovers to be successful.”

Wesson 61, Dexter 19

The Lady Cobras whipped the Walthall County team 61-19 and was able to give valuable playing time to bench strength in the second half.

The Lady Cobras were led by sophomore Brandi McInnis who had 15 points including four 3-point baskets.  Taylor Smith had 8 in a reserve role for the Lady Cobras.

Wesson 44, West Lincoln 40

Coach Magee’s homecoming was a success as she watched Maddie Rials erupt for 29 points in the win over the Lincoln County rival.  The win showed the Lady Cobras experience of being young the last few years shine in the second half. 

Moody James scored 8 points and 6 rebounds in the win for the Lady Cobras.

Raleigh 56, Wesson 43

Maddie Rials led the Lady Cobras in Smith County with 15 points.  The quick Raleigh team was just too much for the Lady Cobras.  Mak Rials added 9 points in support while Dylann Harris netted 8 points.
