Hazlehurst officials pledge better working relationship with county

In the first meeting of the 2012 year, city officials pledged to continue the productive working relationship with county officials.
Mayor Henry C. Banks thanked the county for their assistance in replacing the bridge at Lake Hazle.  According to Mayor Banks without the financial help of the county, the project would not have been possible.
Other Business
The city authorized payment of $42,714 to Independent Roofing for the  repairs made to city hall.  It was stated that the interior work will be completed once the  work on the roof has had time to settle.
Chief of Police Byron Swilley was given permission to allow two of his officers to serve warrants on their days off.
Chancellor Fuller, uncertified, was hired  to serve in the dispatch department.
The board approved allowing three employees of the water department to attend a waste water class, a short water class and professional office development class.
Fire Chief Christopher Pendleton was allowed to sell a 1997 F-150 pick up to salvage.
The meeting was adjourned until the nex regular meeting on February 7 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
