Cobras, Lady Cobras pick up three wins each

This past week the two varsity teams for Wesson proved otherwise, sweeping all three of their opponents each with relative ease.
The Lady Cobras blew through Enterprise at home last Tuesday, winning 60-28. Dylan Harris led Wesson with 16 points. Twin sisters Maddy and Mak Rials notched 13 and 12, respectively. Elsie Miller added 10.
On Friday night a long trip to East Marion proved to be fruitful for Coach Rusti Magee’s squad. The Lady Cobras dominated the home team 72-33. Miller led the team with 16, followed by Harris’ 15 and Maddy Rials’ 11.
The next night the Lady Cobras traveled to Salem High School in Walthall County and came home with a 55-27 win. Harris led Wesson with 15 and the Rials sisters had 10 apiece.
The Lady Cobras improved their record to 12-9 and 2-3 in 6-2A.
The Cobras, likewise, picked up three wins over the same teams. They defeated Enterprise 82-35 on Tuesday. Terry Brown (14), Dartavious Dixon (12) and Caleb Skinner (9) led Wesson in scoring.
Then, on Friday Wesson survived East Marion 57-51. James Clay led the Cobras with 14 points, followed by Eddie McCullum with 11 and Patrick Lumley with 7. McCullum added 7 assists to help his team win.
On Saturday, the Cobras slid by Salem 66-56. JyMetrius Sutton, Jr. had a good game with 18 pints, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Clay led his team with 21 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Cobras are now 13-7 and 4-1 in 6-2A.
The two Wesson teams hosted Loyd Star on Tuesday and will host Amite County on Friday. They travel to Bogue Chitto on Saturday. Game time is 6:00 for varsity girls, followed immediately by the boys’ contest.
