Clopton accepts position at Brookhaven HS
Brookhaven High School announced that Wesson’s head football coach Tommy Clopton had been hired as football coach and athletic director for the Panthers. Clopton was introduced at a press conference on Tuesday morning. He assumes the head coaching job left vacant by the leaving of former coach Wade Henderson, who guided Brookhaven in 2011 and led the Panthers to the 5A state title game.
In 8 years at Wesson, Clopton sported at 50-27 overall record. His 2010 team won Region 6-2A, and advanced to the second round of the state 2A playoffs. In all, Wesson qualified for post-season play in 6 of Clopton’s 8 years.
Officials at Wesson have not announced the hiring of a new coach, which could be one Clopton’s assistants.
