Hillcrest sweeps Copiah in district series

Hillcrest Christian visited Copiah Academy in Gallman on Wednesday for a baseball twinbill and left with two more wins, defeating CA 9-3 and 2-0.

Hillcrest plated a run in the third and one in the fifth in the Game One to defeat the Colonels.  Michael Bagley, who allowed only 6 hits for the Cougars, took the hard-luck loss for Copiah.  Jacob Ashley had 2 hits for Copiah.

The Cougars pounded 11 hits in the second game to win 9-3.  Asa Newman took the loss for Copiah.  Michael Williams for CA had a triple for the Colonels’ only extra-basehit.

The Colonels host Starkville Academy today at 5:00, then travel to East Rankin on Tuesday.
